Whether you are new to yoga or just new to LAVAYOGA then the following tips will help guide you on your new journey with us at LAVAYOGA.

Before your first class:

All bookings can be made from the timetable page or you can just show up early, the doors open 30 mintes before each class.
Please arrive to your first class at least 15 minutes before class starts giving you plenty of time to meet your teacher and become acquainted with the studio.
Please keep in mind our studio doors do close promptly when class starts.
It is best not to eat anything 2 hours before class, if you need just a piece of fruit is best.

Hydrate yourself before class by drinking plenty of water and stop drinking 30 minutes prior so you don’t have a belly full of water when you are practicing.

Sign up online at our pricing page which is the easiest and quickest way to register, then just show your photo ID when you arrive for your first class.

What to bring:

Wear something light and fitted such as shorts, singlet top, sportsbra or lycra gym wear. Avoid sweats, long pants and heavy t-shirts.
The room is heated and you will sweat a lot. If you have your own yoga mat please bring it along or if you are starting your intro pass your mat will be free for your first class.
Bring a big towel, Bottle of water and a change of clothes if you are planning on showering afterwards mats and towels are available for a $2 fee.

In the Room:

All you will need is your mat, towel and water; for safety reasons no phones or bags will be allowed in the room, we do have complimentary lockers in our bathrooms. Position your self towards the back of the room away from the mirrors, this will enable you to see others in front which will help guide you through the practice. Make sure you can see yourself in the mirrors to help with your alignment. Feel free to rest and sit or lay down at any time throughout the class. Our classes are designed to be challenging, however it is important to listen to your body and respect your physical limits. Your practice will grow stronger and stronger with each class.

Facilities:

Both studios offer mat and towel rental for $2, we also sell water and coconut water as well as having a filtered water fountain to fill your bottle if needed. We offer modern showers, toilet amenities and hairdryers in the women’s. Lockers are available complimentary for your personal belongings.

After Class:

If you borrowed one of our studio mats please hang it on the dirty mat rack in the entry so they can be cleaned for the next day. Your teacher will be at the front desk if you have any questions for them they are always happy to help. Make sure you hydrate adequately after class, we recommend at least 1 to 2 litres of water and if you are a big sweater we sell Restore, Endura or Nuuns to help re-hydrate your system quicker. If you feel muscular fatigue or soreness the next day, this is not unusual as you are using some muscles for the first time in a long time, this will resolve within 48hrs. Best thing to do is get back in to the hot room as soon as you can.
